Did you know that the number 17 is the Italian equivalent of the worldwide 13?
It all started in ancient Greece and ancient Rome. On the one hand, it is claimed that already Pythagoras and his followers cultivated a real hatred against the number 17, because it separated the two special numbers 16 and 18, these two are in fact the only ones that form plane figures with their perimeter 4×4 and 3×6. Others, on the other hand, claim that the unlucky effect comes from the use that the ancient Romans had of carving the following inscription on the tombstones: "VIXI" (I was alive), and if we make the anagram of it, we get the following number "XVII", 17! True or false? Who knows, neither the Italians nor others can claim it with certainty. But in case of doubt, some airlines have eliminated both 13 and 17 from their seat rows.
For us, though, the number 17 is a good thing, because our city is celebrating its 17-day online birthday today!
